Mick-the-brave

Michael Bettanin's heroic efforts in the surf of 2005 are old-yet-impressive news to family and friends, so when Blog Bettanin came by this top photo of his award ceremony we couldn't resist doing a feature.
For those who are unaware, Mick assisted with the rescue of three children from a family of eight who were swept off rocks into the Warrnambool surf on 2nd January, 2005. He then spent the next few days searching for the bodies of the five that drowned. Mick was presented with a Certificate of Merit for his effort and involvement in the rescue at the Royal Humane Society Bravery Awards held at Government House on 30 November 2007.
