Danish friends

The Easter break was made super-special this year by visitors from Denmark. Five-year old twins Johanne and Frederick spent five days playing all over Melbourne, with Tor a very willing companion. Careful preparations for the visit included painting and attaching the Danish flag to the front gate.

Tor devised a pictorial welcome message on his white-board to impart key messages to the children who couldn't yet speak English. Yes, it was most important that they understood there was going to be lots of fun, and chocolate!!!

Sight-seeing started close to home, burning around the Botanical Gardens on scooters and other wheely devices. The twins were keen for a photo shoot while mum, dad and Anthony...

We headed into town and it was hard for little hands to resist the lure of the legendary water-wall!

As luck had it, the Mighty Tigers were playing at the G that weekend. There was no question as to which team the Danes would support!

On Easter Sunday, Johanne and Frederick joined Tor in their first ever Easter egg hunt! Yes...that's right...the Bunny doesn't make it to Denmark! The children were at first puzzled to be woken at crack-of-dawn and dragged down-stairs by their four-year old host, who then proceeded to upturn furnishings in a mad frenzy looking for goodness knows what. Of course, they soon joined in and an embarrasingly large amount of the sugary stuff was then shared out for all to enjoy.

On Monday we piled into cars for the journey out to the Dandenong Ranges and Puffing Billy. I'd heard tales of this wonderous attraction for three years and admit being slightly sceptical of the hype. The day itself was gloriously sunny, and Billy did not dissapoint, allowing us all to stick our arms, legs and coffee cups out the railings and pretend we were five years old.

The fun ended all too soon when we had to say "Goodbye for now" to the twins and their parents Mette and Kenneth. We miss you and hope to see you again soon. Thanks for all the fun!
